Analogue continuous information. Traditional clocks, mercury thermometers, scales, old cameras, cassettes, vinyl records… traditional objects

Digital devices employ a system of 1 and 0 that mixed together make the device work: digital thermometers, digital clocks, digital weights, computers, tablets, mobile phones… technological objects

Analogue and digital signals
Analogue signals are always transmitted with movement, whereas digital signals are discontinuous

Computers
Technology always depend and interrelates with: hardware and software
HARDWARE. The physical part: internal (hard disk, CPU) or external (screen, mouse, keyboards) elements

Input devices, we use them to introduce information to the device: a mouse, a keyboard, a micro, a scanner or joystick
Output devices, we use them to receive info from the device: a screen, speaker, headphones, printed

INPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES: a router (it connects in double way the computer and the internet), memory devices (it interacts with the computer receiving and giving information)

DEVICE: computer, tablet, mobile, etc

SOFTWARE is the invisible mechanism that makes the computer work. It’s data based in binary code, with combination of 1 and 0 010011100100. It transfer the information to the  CPU, to the hard disk, drivers, etc.
[No copiéis esto Podéis acceder a https://www.traductorbinario.com/ para ver como es en lenguaje binario palabras como hola, adiós o cualquiera que se os ocurra)
Operating systems: Windows, macOS, Linux
Computer drivers makes a hardware (printer) work with the computer
Computer programs: writing documents like word, editing photos like Photoshop, listening like iTunes, etc
Apps: software adapted to tablets or mobiles: whatsapp, TikTok
Malware: software with the intention of making damage, destroy or steal information. They can be avoided by having a malware or antivirus

GOING ONLINE
The internet is a huge network with computers interconnected all over the world thanks to router and paying for the service. The internet was developed in the 60’s.
Today we can access with web browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer.

How to search web
Webpages have hypertext links. These are when you put the cursor on a piece of information, then you click and you can get to other website or play a video, a song, etc.
We can use search engines to look for a specific point of information: Google, Bing, etc. If I need to do a project about wolves for example, it is a good idea to type: wolf, feature, continent; because the research will be more precise.

Blog and video
Blogs are very easy to use and a very fast way of publishing a website. They are used to exchange information: diaries, expand knowledge, describe hobbies.
The two main platforms are blogspot and wordpress, but YouTube and Vimeo are the equivalence with video

Social media
Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc work like a group of friends. To interact with others you will probably need to send invitations. You need to be very careful who you are interacting with.

Online games
Yes, your wonderful Fortnite : ) You know every single aspect of these. Some need anavata (a graphic representation of you), some are multiplayer, individual, etc

INTERNET SAFETY
1. NO PERSONAL OR BANK DATA
2. ONLY TRUST CLEAR WEBS
3. ONLY TALK WITH YOUR REAL FRIENDS
