6º NATURAL SCIENCE - ESQUEMA TEMA 5
Buenos días, aquí os dejo el esquema del tema 5 para que sea copiado en el cuaderno
Magnetism
Magnets
attract materials like metals, iron, nickel…
Types of
magnets:
- - Artificial,
made in factories
- -
Natural
(magnetite)
- -
Permanent
- -
Induced
(temporary)
Magnetic
poles.
If you put together both north or south side poles, they will repeal each other, whereas if you put together north and south they will attract.

The Earth’s
magnetism
The liquid
iron inside the Earth acts like a giant iron. This magnetic field helps us from
radiation from the Sun, without it we would die!
The compass
It is an
instrument. It always points to the North with its needle.
Magnets and
electromagnets
Electromagnetism
is the relationship between electricity and magnetism
Magnetic materials (metallic:
silver, nickel, gold…)
Non-magnetic materials like
wood, rubber, plastic
Magnets are
everywhere
1) Homes:
blenders (batidoras) hard disks (discos duros) doorbell (el timbre de la
puerta)
2)
Healthcare: magnetic resonance imaging (resonancia magnética) to show our
internal organs like the brain, heart…)
3) Transport: maglev trains (el tren bala de Tokio 603km/h)
